The 4th Trimester. It’s such a special time of bonding and has a history of being a space where the mother is solely focused on healing and her new baby.
The book The 4th Trimester solidified for me the importance of this phase and how I need to be nutritionally supported.
Not by choice, but by necessity I did this with Jake.
My healing was intense after blood loss, tearing and surgery so I didn’t leave the house for 12 weeks. My amazing husband did e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g!
This time around with a four year old, I want to put things in place to ease the pressure off my husband (and myself) so that the first three months can be 100% focused on my recovery and our new little girl whilst at the same time I have everything I need nutritionally in the home, and what our household needs, with little effort from us.
Below is how I have prepared our home, and my business, for the newborn phase:
Grocery, Household and Wellness Deliveries
Although we live just around the corner from our local organic store, butcher and supermarket, I have still arranged to have our wellness and home essentials delivered.
It just makes things easier and it means i don’t have to remember anything that I know is vital for my health, our family or our household.
This includes:
Soulara (Plant-Based Delivery Service): I have arranged to have these meals delivered for my lunches only, to maximise my nutritional intake. Hubby usually cooks dinner, so these are for ease during the day (view Soulara)
Inner Origin Grocery Box: I receive this monthly and it contains my grocery, cooking and nutrition essentials. I know what we use in a 4 week period and have created this template for easy repeat ordering. I shifted my spending to Inner Origin from my local health food store due to the loyalty program that rewards me for shopping. I also love that it is 100% clean products by Australian business owners #consciousspending.
Coles Supermarket: We get very little from this supermarket, namely because of conscious spending right?!. I don’t feel good giving my money to big business so I always choose local family owned or conscious companies instead. But for a select few household items it’s essential. I set up a repeating order to be delivered to our home weekly on the things we use; namely mainly coconut and almond milks, paper towels and organic frozen berries and mango.
doTERRA Wellness Box: I receive this monthly delivered to our door, which includes our low-toxic everyday hair, skin and bathroom products, cleaning, supplements and holistic health. We don’t pay for this Wellness Box as the income I earn sharing doTERRA’s wellness lifestyle more than covers the cost of our families box each month – and the loyalty program is next level – by far the best in the wellness space.
This is also why I am so passionate about helping other women share doTERRA and Inner Origin as well, so they too can have their grocery and wellness covered with monthly boxes AND earn a great side-income for their family. Both have the opportunity to create an income stream. It’s been a game-changer for us.
Cleaner, Housekeeper and Nanny
I am so grateful we have the resources to hire support during this time.
I know what it’s like to struggle and not have the finances to do the things that support my lifestyle or health. We were really strapped for a period, and it was suffocating.
My wish is for every mother to create a side-income so she too can hire the support she needs around her home and provide her family with the wellness lifestyle they deserve (the #1 reason why I decided to share doTERRA with mothers).
I have a nanny / housekeeper coming in 4 x mornings per week just for three hours when Matt is Personal Training or at the gym (which he does every morning and I want to encourage him to keep his routine).
That way she can be here to take Jake to the playground, or prepare his meals and help out with washing, cleaning or tidying should I have had zero sleep.
Housewife duties just are not my thing.
My husband and I realised a long time ago that I’m just not wired to clean and vaccum. I literally have zero interest and would much rather release a program to empower mothers online 🙂 So rather than fight about the lack of housework that was getting done, I outsourced my weaknesses and focused on my strengths #winwin
Preparing My Business For Time Off
I may or may not completely take time out but I wanted to set things up to prepare for this should I need or want to switch off 100%.
I have put in place the following:
-
Email autoresponder series advising I am on maternity leave and may take some time to respond to emails so I can manage expectations with others
-
Hired and trained a Virtual Assistant to oversee admin duties, customer service and requests relating to my incomes streams
-
Set up Sales Funnels to automate my programs and create passive income
-
Used Unroll Me to unsubscribe from over 500 newsletters and the remaining come in one email per day, so my inbox does not get flooded with emails
Did you do anything to prepare for your bub’s arrival? Or did you wish you had? I would love to hear x
With love,
Debbie x
