look here My weekly date is at 1pm on Saturday’s. After I finish my morning with clients I take myself off to a nice quite spot by the pond in Centennial Park. Here I write and reflect on what is happening in my life. At times I take a good inspiring or educational book, other times I just lie there and stare at the sky. My phone is turned off and I completely disconnect from the world. I kick my shoes off and feel the grass under my feet, ensuring I spend at least 30 minutes like this to soak up the earth’s energy (see Earthing if you are curious). As a result I return energised, inspired and relaxed. It’s my weekly mini-break that completely resets my body, inspires my soul and clears my mind.

This is one hour in your week where you release your schedule. A time where there is no time and you can let go and just be. I’m not talking about the down time slumped in front of the TV or sitting on the couch surfing Facebook. This activity must involve little stimulation – certainly no TV, social networks, mobile or human contact.

I do this each night before bed. I make myself a herbal tea (pukka teas are my favourite) and retire to my room with a good book. Just before I go to sleep I write three things I am grateful for in my gratitude journal (I highly recommend the iphone app Gratitude Journal by Happy Tapper – simple yet effective!). I end my day with a prayer.

Making time to relax and experience happiness is vital to your well-being. Working and socialising around the clock will leave your body tired, stressed and your mind mentally frazzled.

Insert some ‘mini-breaks’ into your week, make space for these and don’t let yourself down by missing them. It’s time to be kind to your mind, body + soul and show yourself a little care.
